Brought to my focus by a recent RP game of Black Sword Hack, the Elric Saga reveals that in my adolescence I was lured away from the Genuine Warrior-Sorcerer Tragic Albino by meh... the Witcher.

Looks like Sapkowski borrowed not only the main protagonist's key feature but also the aspects of the setting, based the Norse mythology (among the inspirations for Elric there is Kalevala, wow!). But while the story of Geralt is a (rather dull) drama series for little fairy girls, its origin by Moorcock is a proper Sword and Sorcery mayhem: epic, furious and delicious!
